The initial years are essential for the development of your child. It is during this particular time that they find out how the world works. Besides their discoveries, they also get to realize their feelings and ways to express them. Things might get overwhelming for your kids when they try to comprehend emotional complexities. They might vent their dissatisfaction through outbursts or have a difficult time settling down. Here are some ways to help your child learn and comprehend their emotions in a better way. Label the feeling The various feelings that your kids go through might be distant to them in the beginning, however, you can help them by naming the feelings correctly. You can make use of videos or image books to reveal the various emotions of the characters in the story to the kid. This way, your kid will be able to develop an emotional vocabulary to start identifying the feelings and discuss them with you. Talk to them about how they can express their feelings The ideal way to teach your kids to express feelings is to show them an example. You can begin by talking about your feelings and explain how to express them best. You can create opportunities for kids to come up with resolutions for different situations and discuss why they are fitting or not. Resist your urge to punish Discipline methods like time outs, shaming or giving consequences are mostly used by parents to correct the misbehaviours of their kids. However, kids will only get the message that their bad emotions are accused of misbehaviours. The kid will bottle emotions until there comes a day where it starts overflowing through a meltdown. You need to help the kid manage and process emotions instead of punishing them. You need to continue doing that until they are capable of handling things on their own. Childventures partners with parents in the development of their kids to their fullest potential. The kids are provided with the finest childcare services and they help instil the significance of character formation, moral values and respect for people.

While child nutrition is an important aspect of your child’s development and growth, positive parenting can cast an everlasting mark on the overall personality of your child. They say that the mother is the first teacher and the home is the first school. The values you incite can either make or break or a child’s future. To ensure that your child’s development and health are never compromised, have a look at the following tips: 1. Uplift your child’s confidence and self-esteem: Your actions, tone, body language and expressions speak a lot of the child. Talking softly and complimenting your child for any small or big accomplishment shall help in boosting their confidence and make them believe in themselves. 2. Appreciation: Small gestures of appreciation like a big hug or words like fabulous, superb and excellent can help your child with their development and health. 3. Discipline: There is no substitute for discipline. No means no, and your child should understand that. Strict timing and habits are a must to ensure discipline. 4. Spending quality time: Only spending time at the dining table is not family time. Go together for picnics, read together, dance and play games as a family which will help your child learn the importance of staying together. 5. Good role model: Children learn by example. Be what you want your child to become. Respect gets respect and children are keen observers. Make sure you make the first move by being a good role model. 6. Communicate: Clean, crisp and unhindered communication will ensure that your child is never apprehensive in sharing about their feelings at any stage of life. This is one of the most exciting periods of any parents’ life; however, it turns out to be equally draining and stressful too. The most important decision comes in terms of choosing the right school. For the first time your child is going to be alone at a new place without your protective embrace. This obviously makes for an emotional stressor. So it is not only a new chapter in your child’s life but also every parent’s. Below are a few tips to prepare your child for pre-school: 1. The concept of school should be introduced well before in advance to the child. Essentially, it should be embedded in their psyche so that it doesn’t become a shock for them when it happens. 2. There’s a lot of research that goes behind choosing the right school and every parent must spend thorough time in doing so. The school’s record, reviews, testimonials, location, infrastructure as well as a general word of mouth; all play a very big role. 3. The internet can only be a gateway for research but it is fairly vital for parents to visit the actual campuses before zeroing in on any one of the options. Spend enough time there, learn about their security system, and try to learn about the environment to ensure you will be making the correct choice for your child. 4. These visits in person should not be done just once. Visit in consecutive weeks and revisit for any affirmation. The schools that are empathetic in approach will not find your visits intrusive. That will also help you make the correct decision. 5. The decision needs to be taken by both mother and father together. You should brainstorm and spend as much time as you need before reaching any conclusion. Once you do, leave it open-ended for a few days. And after a while if the choice still seems the most apt then go for it. 6. As you have grown acquainted with the chosen school’s premises, it is essential for your child to become familiar with the place too. You should take your children to school premises many times. Introduce them to the principal and teachers; especially class teachers and other staff members who would be interacting with theem. Show them around and detail the advantages like the classroom atmosphere, new friends they would be making, playground, recreation activities, etc. The need for doing this is because the child’s transition to starting a school journey has to be smooth and that is only possible if they develop a certain interest. 7. After such visitations, you should try and open a dialogue with your kid. Try to know their reaction, thoughts. How they felt about the place. If they felt comfortable or not. If not, try to know the reason and help them with that. 8. The feeling of fear will arise. In your mind as well as in your child’s mind. So it is very important that one can identify this fear and work on it. Decisions should never be made hastily. 9. Grandparents, personal stories and books will play a major role in this phase. This will provide comfort for your child and they will be able to freely express and understand their thought process. It will help prepare them for a good time to come. 10. Books and stationery should be bought well in advance; introduce your child to its use and importance. Stories or poems can be read to them from the curriculum books. This will help them in adjusting to the new atmosphere. While doing all this and more, always know that it is okay to feel scared or confused. It is okay because it is a decision you are making for the most precious person in your world. So always be open to seek help. It’s hard to find anyone who takes medicines without a fuss and if the person in question is a child, get ready to face a larger problem. It is natural to run away from the bitter taste of antibiotics and medication. So what are you supposed to do as a parent to make this an easier task? Have a look at some of the engaging options to make this exercise less cumbersome and taxing for you and your child: 1) Pick the favourites: Does your child drink milk in a superhero mug or get excited about having water from their pink Barbie bottle? Give them medicine in their favourite cup of using a dosing device to feed them medicine. 2) Sugarcoat the medicine: Kids have a sweet tooth, so mask the medicine with something sweet and give them the dose. 3) Volume matters: It might be hard for kids to take medicines in large volumes. Talk to a pharmacist who can suggest ways to adjust the volume and bring it to a level that is comfortable for your child. 4) Deals do the trick: For things which are as bad as medicines, it is ok to make deals with your child. Make a good deal and ensure that you fulfil your promise by the end of the day. For instance, telling your child that you will get them their favourite toy after 5 days if they take their medicine regularly is absolutely acceptable. 5) Give the command: If your child is older and likes to remain independent, don’t force him/her to take the dose. Hand over the medicine and let them take it themselves. 6) Talk to the doctor: A particular antibiotic that doesn’t suit your child shouldn’t be given again until you have consulted the doctor. Talk to them to find a more appropriate option. 7) Go slow: Give your child space and comfort and once he/she is at ease, you can talk and give them the dose. At Childventures Early Learning Academy, we believe in making this exercise fun and wish a speedy recovery for your child. As a growing child, your little one must be taught not to suppress their feelings or emotions. They need to open up and speak out so that you can get to know more about them and teach them the right ways to lead a healthy lifestyle. Following is a list of tips that you need to follow regularly to let your child learn the balance between letting out feelings and embracing them at the same time.
Be attentive to their cues: The best way to interact with a kid is to be approachable whenever they tend to name you or walk towards you. Your child will get to know that you are available for them and will be aware that you are all ears to their concerns. Never leave your child unattended, whenever they tend to cry out over a mistake. Be all ears to their needs: You need to either listen to their needs completely or try to calm their tantrums by initiating a conversation that lets your child calm down. This way, your child will grow up sharing their needs and thoughts with you, resulting in being expressive and better communication. Exchange positive feelings: You as a parent, need to be a role model and start expressing the things that positively run in your mind. You can speak proudly about your earlier life achievements and even share the upcoming short term goals that you have set up to achieve in the forthcoming days. This will indeed initiate the practice of exchanging feelings in your toddler and let them open up during any part of the day. Are you trying to get your child to come out of their shyness and express their feelings? Enroll them in Childventures Early Learning Academy for their overall growth and development. No child is perfect either! We should have generous expectations. However, this doesn't mean that we shouldn't aspire towards our goal and set higher standards for ourselves as well as our children. Children look at their parents as role models, and we should try to become one. Below we have compiled a list of top parenting skills to become better parents:
1. Teach them through action If you are trying to teach your child through theory and anger constantly, you are going to have a tough time with your little one. Your child will not learn by information but by your deeds and actions. Children naturally mimic their parents, and they are always observing and absorbing the world around them, which includes your conversations and how you treat other people. These actions shape the foundation of your child's morals and provides a perspective of the world around them. For example, embed good morning habits like brushing your teeth as soon as you wake up, grab your own toothbrush and hop in the washroom and tell your children to join. It will be a fun activity and a great way to instill amazing habits in your little ones. 2. Practice positive parenting By giving your child positive experiences, they will show development logically as well as physically. Share experiences which are constructive and have a positive attitude. 3. Create a safe world around them Let your child know that you are always there for them regarding any kind of sensitive needs. Support your child and always be warm around them. 4. Never get violent No matter what happens, hitting your child or spanking them is a short-term act but has a long term effect on the child's mentality. This habit won't teach the child what is right and what is wrong; it only teaches short term anger and fear of external consequences. The child is only motivated through positive actions. Ensuring that your children deal with their fears in a healthy manner is essential to growth.
Guide Your Child Being present as much as possible is an important responsibility for any parent. Guiding your children through a fearful situation will help to show them that they had nothing to be afraid of in the first place. Exposure Your Child To Appropriate Role Models Expose your child to appropriate role models that they can look up. This will allow them to watch how their role models act and handle situations they face in a similar manner. Encourage & Praise Your Child Fear can be a by-product of not having enough confidence. Encourage and praise your child and show them that they are stronger than their fears. Doing this will instill confidence in your child to help them deal with future fears on their own. At Childventures Early Learning Academy, we partner with families in the development of children to help them reach their highest potential. A preschool plays a significant role in children's growth. It offers children multiple chances to socialize with other kids, learn more about themselves, society and different cultures, and builds confidence.
Below are some of the reasons why preschool is considered some of the most critical years in a child's life:
1. Teachers
Preschool teachers play a vital role in building a child's character in the initial years of schooling. Children also get their first teacher and have an emotional connection with them. Teachers facilitate various activities throughout the day and provide a structure to help the child learn speaking, reading and writing skills.
2. Learning Foundation
Preschool helps the child to lay a foundation of learning. Teachers use a variety of methods to help children grow psychologically and prepare them cognitively for the different ways of learning. This can be an excellent warm-up for your children before entering a full-fledged educational journey.
3. External Environment
While toddlers stay at home since childhood, a preschool is likely their first exposure to get out of their houses to meet other children and learn. This also gives your children a sense of self-worth, competence, and an opportunity to constantly learn from other children as well.
4. Extracurricular Activities
As children tend to be more flexible and playful in their earlier ages, it is essential for them to indulge in physical activities early on to attain maximum growth. A preschool teaches your children various arts and crafts, sports and other activities that help to enhance their learning and creativity.
At Childventures Early Learning Academy, we provide a healthy and safe environment that meets children’s emotional, social, intellectual and physical needs.
